I'm pretty sure I jinxed myself in a previous post about not getting as sick as I did last time. Totally sick, just like last time. This time the severity just came on a little bit later. But, that's okay. Totally not complaining. Just sharing. Seriously.
I actually had to go to urgent care last week to get i.v. fluids. That was a first for me. With Kellen, I threw up frequently, but never enough to completely dehydrate myself, so I never needed medical help. Last week, I had major projectile vomiting that just wouldn't settle. I was home for two days and just couldn't keep anything down. After realizing it'd been quite a while since I last urinated, I called the nurse line to see if there was anything I should do, and they told me to come to urgent care right away. Unfortunately, I had to go by myself since Aaron was on Kellen duty and had to pick him up from daycare. Nothing like spending 4 hours at urgent care (half of that was in the waiting room) by yourself, when you feel like your digestive system is literally eating itself. The fluids really helped, and I was able to go into work for a half day the next day. Then, that night, I got home and began the projectile vomiting again. Ugh. I seriously considered calling my HR person to see about disability/FMLA leave. I couldn't picture myself being able to work in this condition.
Thankfully, this week has been a little better. I've still been throwing up in the morning, and battling nausea throughout the entire day, but I can at least manage to go to work. Now, the quality of my teaching isn't quite what it was, but hey, I'm at least making it to work and that's all they can ask of me, right? ;) I actually ended up sharing the news with my principal, because I just needed him to know that there was a reason for all of my absences...I think I'm at 5 or 6 now. He was very supportive and is going to remain mum about it until I decide to share the news with the rest of the school. I think many of the teachers have already made up their minds about what's going on. The silly looks...the "How ARE you?"s with little smirks. It was only 2 years ago that I went through this exact same thing with Kellen, so I'm sure they are connecting the dots. Oh well, I'm not sharing until I'm ready, so they can come to any conclusions they want! The people that need to know already know, so that's all that matters.
We're getting sooooooo excited! Have been the entire time, but as every week passes, the anticipation and excitement builds even more! I am going to be a mommy of 2 children. Wowza. We are going to share the news with our families this week, at Thanksgiving. I've been trying to come up with a creative way to share the news, but haven't really thought of anything that hasn't already been done.
Kellen updates:
Kellen is doing AWESOME. Love that little man so much. His walking is getting better and better every day. I think I'd actually consider him a 'walker' now. The other night, he walked all the way across the living room and down the hall (I think we counted something like 24 steps). And, he was able to turn around on his feet and walk to something else - that is HUGE since he's only been able to waddle forward so far. Sometimes he gets lazy, and decides he doesn't want a thing to do with walking...but, I'm not going to force it. If he sees something across the room that he wants, 9 times out of 10, he'll still crawl to get to it. But, the most important thing is that he's getting braver, and that he is actually WANTING (sometimes) to walk. We know he CAN do it and has showed us many times, now we're just working on getting him to do it consistently. At some point, his preferred method of transportation will switch from crawling to walking...we just have to be patient.
Okay, its time for me to take a nap. Kellen is napping, and if I don't attempt to rest in the next few minutes, I'll completely miss my opportunity!
I finally caught up on all of your pregnancy posts. So fun! Can't wait to continue reading your journey through pregnancy. I wish I would have blogged more while pregnant with Brev...
